French Speech Therapist/Orthophoniste
Speech & language therapy: Children
After graduating as a speech therapist, I have worked in France in a private office for a few months.
I have been working in New York City as a French speech therapist with french-speaking children for 2 years. I currently work with children with speech and language delays, speech language impairment, special needs and also written language disorders such as dyslexia.
An evaluation is conducted before a therapy using a combination of standardized tests, parents interview and informal observation.
Based on the assessment, goals and objectives are defined with the parents.
The therapy is provided at home once to twice a week. Sessions are 45 minutes in length.
Therapy is as playful as possible with the little ones.
Evaluation and therapy are conducted in french.
A collaboration with an english speaker speech language pathologist might be recommended.
After graduating from a bachelor (licence) in psychology in France, I studied speech therapy in Belgium where I graduated.
I have worked as a speech therapist in France and in New York.
I have been living in New York for a few years now. Before working as a speech therapist in the city, I have had other experiences with children (baby sitting, french tutor, french instructor in a daycare) so I have a better understanding of the bilingualism concern for the families.
