Do you only propose Tutors for French?

We propose French speaking teachers for every kind of lessons: academic tutoring, sports, music… All lessons are provided in French, so you can learn Math in French, Tennis in French, Cooking in French and so on. We propose also, of course, a lot of teachers in French.

Is it only for children?

Not at all! A lot of French speaking teachers propose lessons for adults and/or children.

How can I contact the tutor(s) of my choice?

Browsing the site and consulting tutors profiles is absolutely free. When you want to contact any tutor, you have to subscribe to our One-month access service. For as low as $30 you will be able to contact as many tutors as you want during 30 days, using our internal messaging box.

How do you ensure the quality of the tutors listed on the site?

Detailed and transparent profiles

We ask our Tutors to provide transparent information about their education background, their experience and their tutoring methods that they should detail in the 3 sections of their profiles: Experience, Tutoring style and Resume.

Check of diploma, certifications and background screening

Tutors are asked to send copies of their diploma and proof of certifications so we can check them. If Tutors are students currently attending college, we ask them to send us a proof of their studentship. We also require that every Tutors willing to work with student under 18 years-old successfully pass a background screening.

French assessment

Before a Tutor ad is published on our website, each Tutor is interviewed by phone to make sure they are fluent in French and they are coherent between their language level and the lessons they propose.

Evaluation by students

We strongly encourage students, or their families, to write reviews about Tutors they work or worked with. They will give you feedback about what they liked or not, so you could have a better idea if a potential Tutor is a good match for you.

Where does tutoring take place?

Tutors and students often choose to have lessons at the student's home. Many also use libraries or coffee shops to have lessons. It's completely up to you and your tutor.

How much does the service cost?

MyTutorSpeaksFrench provides a connection service for Tutors and Students. Students pay $30 for our One-Month access and can contact as many tutors as they want during 30 days.

How much does an hour tutoring cost? Who pays for it?

Because MyTutorSpeaksFrench does not employ tutors, they freely determine their own prices. Price specifications are indicated on each tutors profiles and will depend on many factors such as tutors certification levels, experience, the subjects they teach, the students grades, lessons location, etc… Lessons are directly paid to Tutors according to the frequency and payment mode you would have decided together.

Can I exchange email or phone number with a tutor?

To preserve everyone’s privacy, we recommend you use our internal messaging system while prospecting for tutors, asking them questions to make sure they offer what you are looking for. Once you feel confident and want to arrange logistics around the lessons, go ahead.

The tutor I'm interested in doesn't have a schedule posted online. Does this mean he or she is not available?

All French teachers listed on our website have availability, even if they don’t have an updated schedule. Send the tutor a message to see if he or she can work with your schedule.

What if I message a tutor and don't hear back from him or her?

We do everything we can to keep our database up-to-date and prevent this from happening. However, if this does occur, please let us know right away at and we will make sure you get all the help you need to straighten out the situation. There is a good chance that there is another French teacher available to help and we will do our best to put you touch with a qualified tutor as soon as possible.

What if I need to cancel a lesson?

Tutors set their own cancellation policies, but most require some advance notice. Some tutors may specify their policy on their profile page but some don’t. Make sure you discuss this point before working together.
